Research Assistant – Intellectual Traditions
Salary c. £24,000 p.a. 6 month contract

The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) seeks a Research Assistant to identify and retrieve relevant primary and secondary scholarly materials on intellectual traditions for use in the construction of a secondary level curriculum on the humanistic and civilisational aspects of Islam that is being developed by the Institute.
Responsibilities will include identifying appropriate articles, images, films and other materials, retrieving them, highlighting relevant sections, and summarising relevant portions. The source materials will be used as part of a student textbook, as well as an additional teacher and student resource pack.
The successful candidate will have research experience, an excellent understanding of the Qur’an, and good working knowledge of Arabic and Persian.
The Institute would accept applications from those working towards a PhD as well as those candidates who already possess a PhD in Islamic History, Religious Studies and Theology, Humanities or Social Sciences. A specialisation on the study of the Qur’an is highly desirable.
